… I just can’t stick to a penance today.

To make up for the steak rosary mishap, I vowed to only drink water for the rest of the day… and then went to publix and had a sample of MIO water flavoring.

Haha, dont worry. I didn’t take it badly. I didn’t accidentally eat steak. I was making lunch as I was praying, and then I realized that I was eating what is seen as a real luxury food as I was praying and meditating on the Passion of our Lord. It was just the thought of “Wow, Im enjoying luxury like it’s nothing while I’m meditating about Jesus dying for me on the cross.”

Spiritual Embarrassment.

That awkward moment when you realize you’re eating a steak while praying the Sorrowful Mysteries… =|

Carmelite Sister Laus Gloriae has a nice piece explaining contemplative prayer today over at Integrated Catholic Life over here.a> So if your curious, I would recommend giving it a read. Usually people link contemplative prayer to meditation, and they are different.

Referrencing St. John of the Cross, she discusses the ways that God may be leading us to contemplation. Basically, if the rosary is boring, if the doing another novena is just not attractive, or you don’t want to do the divine mercy chaplet, but you keep doing it, because you think you are supposed to mortify yourself, and do it anyways, this might be a good read for you.

Great dinner tonight

Chicken Caesar crepe with a Chocolate Nutella crepe for dessert. Mexico + France = So. Good.

Things finally clicked through the Seven Sorrows.

I’m just more and more amazed by prayer… I’ve been praying the 7 Sorrows of Mary chaplet for a while, but I never really paid attention to the promises our Mother made in her apparitions about the prayer. One of the things said was that over time, the prayer would help us understand deeply why we sin and tonight, that absolutely happened.

After I prayed the Chaplet a couple minutes ago, I started an examination of conscience, and it ended up being me saying out loud exactly the hidden nature of my sins and exactly how to combat them for good. I definitely, definitely recommend adding this Chaplet to your day along with the traditional Rosary.
